This dress serves as a profound tribute to the environment, emphasizing the critical importance of bird conservation and habitat preservation. As I delved into understanding Audubon's work in Oregon and the significance of birds in Forest Park, a deep concern for their well-being emerged within me. Consequently, this artwork embodies a powerful advocacy for bird conservation and habitat preservation, with the intention of initiating meaningful discussions.
Birds play a vital role in our ecosystem, contributing to pollination, seed dispersal, and insect control. They serve as indicators of environmental health, with their presence or absence reflecting the overall well-being of an ecosystem. By raising awareness through this dress, I aim to highlight the urgent need to protect and restore habitats that support avian populations, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all species and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
This dress was created for SHIFT: An Experiment in Fashion Design, a fundraiser organized by RACC. It was my hope that this artwork sparks conversations and inspires action to ensure a sustainable future for birds and their habitats in Oregon and beyond.
