Home Sweet Home

This is an immersive textile art installation that transports viewers into an intimate and personal space, forging a deep connection between the artwork and the observer. Through intricate details and patterns, the installation invites exploration and engagement, offering a unique and thought-provoking experience. At its core, the artwork delves into the role of Puerto Rican women in society and the pervasive influence of patriarchal structures that often oppress and confine them within the confines of the home. The installation takes the form of a small square, constructed with four pillows, symbolizing the intimacy associated with the household. While for some, the home represents safety and comfort, for others, it embodies a harrowing existence. “Home Sweet Home” prompts reflection on the complexities of gender dynamics and the need to challenge oppressive norms within domestic spaces.
